Synsam
An order portal for Synsam, made for shop staff.
Synsam is the largest optician chain in the Nordics. In 2016 they launched an eyewear subscription — pay monthly, swap your frames, upgrade whenever — and needed a service where shop staff could set up new subscriptions on the spot. I did the UI and interaction design for the whole flow: creating customers, picking base and add-on products, handling guardians for anyone under eighteen and so on.
Add new subscription
At the core is a wizard in a few simple steps — customer details, base products, add-on products and payment — with a summary card on the right that builds up as the staff member works through it. Dense on purpose: in a shop you want to see the whole subscription on one screen, not scroll around.

The tricky cases
A subscription for someone under eighteen requires a guardian, and the guardian requires approved terms and a credit check. The customer-details step adds and collapses those sub-flows depending on the customer’s age. So an ordinary adult subscription stays a short form, while a subscription for a child unfolds into the whole chain.

Price bubbles, by frame category
The base products — single-vision, progressive, sport, sunglasses with or without prescription — each have a price bubble per quality tier. Picking one updates the monthly cost and the total commitment in the summary. The challenge was pulling a very wide product matrix — category × quality × number of frames — together into something a shop assistant can read in a few seconds.

The paper in the letterbox
Once the order is signed, a contract is printed. I was also asked to design the document with the same care as the portal.
